How to Use Online Marketing Tools

Free Tools to Weight Your Website

Once you setup a website, you need to track its performance. There are various types of online marketing tools available. Some are free, and some require either monthly fee or onetime purchase. These software tools keep you in touch with the status of your online marketplace allowing you to make wise decisions.
Quite often, one makes modification to a website either by tuning it up technically or by adding contents. It may take days to modify the site, and it makes sense to be eager for results.
Free marketing tools could be in the form of pdf instructional literature or spreadsheets. An example would be: http://www.marketingexperiments.com/blog/practical-application/top-14-free-marketing-tools-and-resources.html
For those who are interested in looking at the whole picture from traditional point of view, there is a business marketing tool available at: http://www.paloalto.com/marketing_plan_software/
Web marketing tools are usually programs or scripts that enable a web developer (could be a small business owner) to perform certain tasks. Imagine, you want to have a web page that changes the contents based on who the visitor is. For instance you may want to display pricing units based on the visitor’s country. Note: I have no affiliation with those sites. I just came across them while I was browsing the net. If you are new to Internet marketing, please familiarize yourself with the fundamentals before committing yourself to any paid services.

Let’s rerun the basics. The process of evaluating a website starts by Googlebot making a visit to a website (crawling). The information obtained based on the crawl is dealt with at datacenters at a later time. Once the data are deployed, they become available to end users in the form of search results.
My favourite online marketing tools are offered by Google free of charge. They are simple and give me a quick basic overview of my website. One of the Google search operator is cache. Open up a web browser and go to Google site. In the search field type cache:www.yourdomain.com and press enter. Let’s try it:

The result reveals when your site was last cached. If there is no results then try the same query without www. Image below shows an example:

Results of site:www.yourdomain.com in Google search field tells if the domain is in Google’s index.  You can also try info:www.yourdomain.com which shows information about the domain and hyperlink to cache and link.

By the way, link:www.yourdomain.com unveils the links pointing to your site.
These online utilities will give you an indication of how your website is performing, like the gadgets on a car instrument panel. That reminds me that I need to take the car for an oil change.

Till next drive,

Basic Talk!

Google's busy robot pays a visit to your site once every often. Your website contents are sampled often and by each visit, your online venture gets closer to its destiny. With 108 Million Internet users in North America, and 2 Billion worldwide, there is no wonder online marketing and search engine positioning is of great importance.

What is the procedure to be listed on top of search engine result? If anybody shows you a way, think about it twice. The way Google ranks your page and exact formula is a trade secret, and nobody can say for sure how it is done.

To come up with a delicious dish, you don't need to know how the taste buds interpret various spices. All you need to know is what EXPERIENCE tells you.

Your website position in Google's eyes is dynamic, and that is why I encourage you to take charges and drive it to where you want it to be.

Where your website is positioned in search engine results are of less importance! In contrast, where you can take it is definitely of great importance.

On the next article I am going to explain how to setup Google Webmasters for new Do-It-Yourself beginners.

Wish you luck,
Jay Kajavi
